Cindia De La Torre, MBA, RYT 200, completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2018 at Almaden Yoga in San Jose, CA under the guidance of Anuja Chaudri. During her 14-year tenure in growth and retention marketing leadership positions across the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, she has been actively involved in diversity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives via professional, fellowship, and volunteer roles with various organizations, including AmeriCorps, the Mexican Heritage Plaza, the Health Trust, Intel Security Employee Resource Groups, and Lean in Latinas. Most recently, she completed a racial equity fellowship with Net Impact and joined the Latino Board Leadership Academy with the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley. As an underrepresented first-generation Latina yoga teacher and student, she is excited to join the Yoga Alliance Standards Review Project as an inclusion advisor. Cindia will be kickstarting her yoga teaching career in the Bay Area at the Boys & Girls Club of Silicon Valley and the Center for Spiritual Enlightenment.
Expert Advisory Voices
We have brought together a diverse spectrum of expert advisory voices, including several who have been outspoken in their criticism of Yoga Alliance in the past, to maximize the perspectives and resources considered in this comprehensive and inclusive undertaking. We believe this will ultimately lead to the strongest new policies and procedures. The following expert advisors provide one stream of input in the process, alongside the thousands of voices inside and outside of yoga who will offer their viewpoints through surveys, focus groups, online discussion forums, and other channels. We also are grateful to partners like RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), who are helpful consultants in establishing professional ethics and understanding of a yoga teacher’s appropriate scope of practice.
More to come.
