Lorena Saavedra Smith, E-RYT 200, YACEP, MRT is an expert yoga teacher, Reiki Master, wellness coach, and the founder of Hanaq Prana Yoga Studios & School in Tampa, Florida. Recently relocated to the Washington, DC area under her husband’s military orders, Lorena still oversees
the daily operation of the Tampa studio, and has expanded her efforts to concentrate on development of the Hanaq Prana Yoga School to reach other areas of the country.

Originally from Perú, she has been exposed from a very young age to diverse spiritual and alternative natural ways of interconnection towards self-healing and self-empowerment. She is fluent in Spanish and English and travels the world leading yoga teacher training classes, spiritual retreats, and workshops. Since 2003, she continuously developed her knowledge and passion for yoga and meditation in multiple
modalities. She is known for her genuine love of people and community. Her belief in the inclusive effect of yoga, and her unique self-expression of equality and motivational style of teaching that blend both physical and mystical aspects make her passion of teaching yoga accessible to everyone. A primary focus of hers is to empower students to accept their true meaning of the inner self and individuality on and off
the mat.

The Hanaq Prana Yoga Studio is a home to a flourishing, multi-ethnic, diverse, and dynamic community. She manages a talented 14-member staff of teachers. Lorena believes a yoga teacher is best defined by their genuine disposition to impact someone’s life in a deep manner while honoring the standards of the practice – your actions and words can be harmful to someone if you don’t adhere to the practice as it is intended to convey.
Her philosophy of teaching and training follows the old fashion and personalized structure of teacher apprentice. She developed a mentoring program and in collaboration with other teachers, this program is offers to those under the transformational time before, during and after the teacher training.

Due to her continued efforts to bring health and wellness to her community, Lorena was nominated and honored to become a finalist for the prestigious Roar and Business Woman of the Year awards sponsored by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
